The reading competition aims to encourage the member children to invest their time during winter break in developing and widening their knowledge, to discover a world of science, fun and adventures in order to help in reducing the psychological effect of Covid-19 pandemic which resulted in closing many places designated for children.
The Reading Competition Outline:
- Duration: from Thursday, 14 January 2021 to Saturday, 6 February 2021.
- Who can participate: Current Museum members of children between 7 and 12 years old.
- Participants’ categories and qualifying criteria for each category:
First category

7 & 8 years (2nd and 3rd grade):

Reading 6 books suitable for the age group, each book should not be less than 10 pages.
|
Second category
|
9 & 10 (4th and 5th grade):
|
Reading 6 books suitable for the age group, each book should not be less than 15 pages.
|
Third category
|
11 & 12 (6th and 7th grade)
|
Reading 6 books suitable for the age group, each book should not be less than 20 pages.
|
Book Selection Criteria:
- The book topics should vary, and the number of books selected in any of the following categories should not be less than 2 books out of 6.
(at least 3 of them are from the Museum's library)
- Science: different fields of science like religion, astronomy and geography.
- History and Literature: such as stories, novels and countries’ history.
- The books should be in Arabic or English.
- Reading the school curriculum, magazines and newspapers will not be considered in the competition.
Registration and Participation:
- To register, you must call us at the Museum’s phone number 065411479, or by sending a message on WhatsApp to the number dedicated for Museum Members 0799566506.
- Last day for registration is on Thursday 21 January 2021.
- Each participant should use the book summary form (Annex1), which will be sent to all participants by Email upon registration.
- A guide to the Evaluation criteria will be sent to all participants upon their registration, for their reference.
- Last day to submit all books’ summaries is on Saturday 6 February 2021. No summaries will be accepted after this date.
- The books’ summaries can be delivered by hand to the librarian in an envelope or by email members@cmj.jo . The following information should be written on the envelop or in the email body:
- Child’s name
- Parent’s/ Guardian’s name
- Mobile number
- Email address

- Evaluation of the books’ summaries according to the evaluation criteria for the first stage mentioned in the evaluation criteria guide.
- Selection of 3 candidates for each category
- Informing the candidates that they are qualified to be in the second stage by phone, and set an appointment for a Zoom interview with them.
- Inform non-qualified participants by email or SMS.

Second Stage
|
From 21-February 2021 to 25-February 2021
|
- Interview the candidates via Zoom.
- Choose one winner for each category.
|
Announcement
|
28-February 2021
|
- Inform the winners by a phone call.
- Announce the winners through Museum’s social media accounts and via email.
