The Children’s Museum Launches a Multicolored Gallery for Its 2nd Children’s Art Exhibition with a Silent Auction

Amman, Jordan- January 2008- Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Bint Ali, The Children’s Museum launched a colorful art exhibition displaying various pieces of art, celebrating the creativity of over 350 children from across the Kingdom. Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Bint Ali launched the exhibit with a silent auction of selected art pieces that will continue until January 29, 2009. All proceeds will be donated to support humanitarian efforts for the children of Gaza.

The exhibit was an accumulation of art children created during various Museum educational art and outreach programs between November 2007 and December 2008. The children used various forms of artistic mediums to express how they viewed the world. Mediums included:  painting, collages, murals, drawings and short animation films.  Some of the children from Nazik al-Hrari Centre for Special Education expressed themselves through paint, sculpture and mixed media. One of the art pieces displayed was an art mural titled “My Place” created by over 200 children from around Jordan and The CMJ “Imagine” Summer Outreach Program.

Nisreen Haram, Director of The Children’s Museum stated, “The Museum usually holds these types of fundraising opportunities to support Museum projects.  But after seeing the amazing artwork done by these children that seem to represent the individuality of each child and their commonalities- we felt it was only appropriate to donate the proceeds of the silent auction to the children of Gaza.  Together the Museum, the children who painted these artist pieces and the Jordanian community are working hand in hand to support the people of Palestine.”
